DISCRETE DISTORTION — Transistor Overdrive Mid-Boost Distortion Pedal

No tax
Reference: discrete_distortion

The Discrete Distortion is a transistor-based distortion pedal very loosely inspired by classic op-amp based distortion pedals like the Ibanez Tube Screamer, the Boss DS-1, and the Pro Co Rat.

The DD does not lift anything from the circuitry of these pedals, but instead emulates the feel of these op-amp based pedals using only transistors.

The circuit topology utilizes a transistor-based op-amp circuit (also known as a “discrete op-amp”) with an assertive mid-hump. The input boost stage incorporates some mild filtering to keep this effect from getting too noisy which is typical for most attempts at transistor-based distortions.
